Clément Armand and Nicolas Brèche on the Dakar Rally

Films born from tension

FAULN exists because the films we wanted to make needed their own system.

How it started

In 2022, Clément got tired of producing short-form content that disappeared in 48 hours. He put everything into documentary: the most-watched French series about the Dakar on YouTube, a ski mountaineering film supported by The North Face, a feature on diabetes and sport. Each project deepened the same conviction: make the films permissionless, and build the system around them. Scaling the work required Nicolas.

On the Petzl RocTrip in Greece

Clément and Nicolas met working together with Bokeh Production in 2021, shooting contemporary art and the Petzl RocTrip in Greece. Four years of collaboration later, on the Dakar, at MaXi-Race, across the Alps, they built FAULN to formalize what was already happening: Clément directs and develops, Nicolas runs production.

Clément Armand

Clément Armand

Direction, Writing, Strategy

Clément directs and develops what FAULN makes. He focuses on vérité-style documentaries where a character looks for the deeper pursuit behind the physical one. He's obsessed with sovereignty because it protects the freedom to create. He built the Dakar web series from zero to 35K subscribers and six-figure DTC revenue, designing the system FAULN runs on. Co-directed Écrins Sauvages, supported by The North Face, and directed Little Piece of Sugar (Film of the Year, IF3). Currently developing FAULN's next Originals.

Production, Operations, Logistics

Nicolas makes the production run. He handles crews, budgets, and logistics on projects. He produced and filmed a documentary series at the Rallye du Maroc with Hit The Road, backed by Red Bull. Off set, he runs the DTC operations when a project carries them: web, shipping, product fulfillment. Comes from contemporary art (Biennale de Lyon) and event production, with an expertise in video mapping. Has taken apart and rebuilt trucks (which turns out to be useful in the desert).

How we work

Story first

We start every project from the story and route every decision back to it: technique, writing, products, distribution. Each choice answers to the story. Anything that doesn't gets cut.

Art and business

Art is where every project starts. The business of releasing it is the other half of the work. FAULN runs both as one job.

Precision over reach

The work is built for the audience that acts. When the attention is real, products move and integrations land. A niche audience that pays is worth more than millions who only watch.

Anchored locally

FAULN works from the French Alps and outward from there. Films made close to home and shoots four continents away come from the same hands.

FAULN on the Dakar Rally

Why FAULN

FAULN comes from the idea of a fault line. That invisible fracture where the physical and the metaphysical meet.

A fault line is tension made visible. A space where pressure creates form, where contradiction becomes movement.

That's where we work.

Our characters live on that line. Each one pushing past their own limits, each one searching their own way. Through their outward quests, they reveal a deeper one.

In every climb, every fall, every silence, there is a moment where the body and the soul overlap.

FAULN is that passage. Where discipline and surrender, body and spirit, chaos and clarity are held in tension.
