Quentin, Florian and Simon ski steep lines in the Écrins, a range with no lifts, few topos and almost nobody on the routes. Over one spring they open a 400-meter line at the Pic de Clouzis and link two descents on the Râteau in a 2,600-meter day. The film follows the three of them, and what holds them together where nobody is roped up.
He wanted to share his way of skiing the mountains. He knows every topo in the massif, and a few that don't exist yet. He was already shooting when we met, and I offered to co-direct. A first ski film for both of us, and for me a first film made behind the house: I'm from the Hautes-Alpes too, and his way of weighing risk and making calls inspired me.
« Quand tu descends, tu n'es pas encordé. Et c'est là qu'il y a le plus grand risque de chute. Mais finalement t'es lié par l'aspect sentimental, l'aspect amical, et la corde est invisible mais elle est quand même présente. »
Simon MartinetThe local premiere sold out at the cinema in Le Monêtier-les-Bains on . The film then went out on a YouTube channel with fewer than 200 subscribers, and has since passed 97,000 views on its own, with no marketing budget.
